Parallel Vienna 2016

Es gibt sie, diese Fixpunkte im Jahr. Ereignisse die sich wiederholen und sowohl Vorfreude und Aufregung als auch wohliges Wiedererkennen hervorrufen. Im September ist es wieder soweit. Zum nunmehr dritten Mal sind wir gemeinsam mit periscope Teilnehmende an der Parallel Vienna. Langweilig wird es trotzdem nicht die Spur. Das Konzept der Off-Messe leerstehende, städtische Bauten konzentriert mit Beiträgen von Künstler_innen, Projekträumen und auch Galerien zu füllen wächst und erfindet sich neu - jedes Jahr und auch die eigenen Projektideen wachsten mit. Professioneller, Größer und auch Anders soll und muss es also sein? Muss nicht, aber es wird so.

As a meta-organisation whose do-it-yourself (DIY) principle translates into the infrastructure of the artistic institution, the exhibition platform manages itself: a trading centre for new ideas and a dedicated testing ground for self-professionalisation. This year, Parallel Vienna presents an insight into and divergent works of new and established contemporary art for the forth time with more than 400 national and international artists, 20 galleries, 40 project spaces and 42 artist spaces, as well as 15 independent curators."
